EFC Boys 94 Red Far West Regional Champion!

Congratulations to Dan Strom's B94 Red team who was crowned the Far West Regional Champion today in Boise, Idaho.  The boys had a great tournament, coming first out of their bracket, scoring 14 goals with no goals against in their first three games was an impressive start to the tournament!  The quarterfinal round ended in a 1-0 victory against the Utah State Champion.  The semifinal game was a tough one against Cal South's very competitive Albion White.  The EFC boys have played against the Albion team several times over the past year most recently in the Far West Regional League and the National League.  Albion was last year's National Finalist, but this time EFC was the victor in a 2-1 game that was settled in kicks from the mark.  The final game on Sunday ended in a 2-0 victory against the Cal North State Champion, Mount Hamilton.

Congratulations to Dan and his 94 Red Team. These boys have made several trips to Far West Regionals, and this is their first Regional Title.  The tournament was a tough one, with some of the best teams on the west coast competing for the championship. It's not an easy task to win this tournament, but the hard work, dedication and discipline paid off!  Good luck at Nationals!  EFC and the State of Washington is very proud to have you represent the west coast at the national level!!

EFC Girls 99 Red - 2011 Rainier Challenge Champions!

In true typical Northwest fashion, the weather was all over the place last weekend at the 2011 Rainier Challenge, but that didn't deter our girls from coming out on top to take the 1-0 win over Seattle United G99 Copa in the GU12 Samba division finals.  In their first tournament and official games this season, the girls were light on subs but not on spirit and heart.  They showcased great energy and hustle exactly when they needed to in order to emerge in first place within their bracket then went on to defeat ASE Synergy 2-0 in the semi-finals in order to advance to the finals.

Their overall record for the weekend was 3 wins, 2 ties and 0 losses.  Incredibly enough, out of the 5 games, the girls only allowed 1 goal over the entire tournament!  Congratulations girls and way to kick off the season!

EFC Girls Host Canadian Teams at Jamboree!

The Eastside GU14 Red team (Coach Kelli Smith) hosted 2 teams from Surrey FC in a jamboree at Preston Fields on Saturday, 6/4. The Canadian GU14 and GU12 teams travelled from BC Canada to each play two games against four different Eastside teams. The sunny weather created an enthusiastic soccer atmosphere and over 150+ players and families enjoyed a wonderful picnic lunch together (hosted by EFC’s GU14R, GU13R, and GU13W). With a sea of Red uniforms from the 4 different Eastside teams playing…. It truly was a great club bonding day for Eastside FC!

Thanks to coaches Kelli Smith, Michelle French, Tom Turner and to the GU14R, GU14W, GU13R, GU13W players who participated in the games and hosted the picnic.

Register for EYSA Referee Grade 8 Clinic

Registration for EYSA Referee - Grade 8 Clinic is open. The dates are: Monday 7/18, Tuesday 7/19, Thursday 7/21 and Saturday 7/23.  We can add another clinic in August if this one fills up.

Here’s a link to the details:
http://www.wasrc.org/clinics?action=display&clinic=3969

There are no age limits on the clinic, but EYSA will contract only with referees who are 13 or older. So I’d recommend they are 13 before Oct 1. East King County Soccer Referee Association (EKCSRA) would prefer referees be 14, but don’t require it.

Remember to be part of the Ref-in-Pool program this year, you must be an adult (18 or older) or you had to be a Ref-in-Pool last year and refereed 3+ games for the Ref-in-Pool program. Plus you must have a Grade 8 certification.

There will be Grade 9 clinic for the same age group which will train them to referee at the other EYSA clubs (U08+ rec games). Details will be forthcoming when the clinic dates are established.

There will also be a Bridge clinic in August that will transform a Grade 9 certification to a Grade 8 certification.
